Sierra View Medical Center’s Roger S. Good Cancer Treatment Center received a generous $25,000 donation from the Porterville Breakfast Rotary Club, proceeds from the 21st annual Run for Life event held in September 2024. The check presentation took place on January 30, marking another year of community support for cancer care.
More than 360 participants gathered for the 3.1-mile run/walk, honoring the memories of Battalion Chief Jerry J. Swartzlander, his daughter Julie Swartzlander Hargis, and Maria Felix Hernandez de Carmona. Their stories of resilience and strength were at the heart of the event, which brought together families, friends, and community members to support those impacted by cancer.
“All proceeds from Run for Life help support patient care and equipment needs at our Cancer Treatment Center, allowing us to continue providing compassionate treatment and support for those we serve,” said Donna Hefner, President and CEO of Sierra View Medical Center. “We are deeply grateful to the Porterville Breakfast Rotary Club, the event sponsors, and every participant who made this generous donation possible. Your support allows us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those bravely fighting cancer.”
Run for Life, organized by the Porterville Breakfast Rotary Club, has been a longstanding tradition in the community, uniting local businesses, service organizations, and residents in a shared mission to support cancer patients and their families. This year’s event featured moving tributes from family members, heartfelt speeches, and moments of reflection, reinforcing the event’s impact beyond fundraising.
