We want to assure the communities we serve that despite the challenging economic climate, Sierra View Medical Center is not at risk of closing. We have been proactive in our efforts to maintain a fiscally sound facility.

We are proud to share that for the fifth consecutive year, Sierra View Local Healthcare District (SVLHD) has received an ‘A’ rating from Fitch Ratings, denoting high credit quality and strong financial capacity. This rating is a testament to our commitment to financial stability and our ability to meet our financial commitments.

SVLHD would also like to address the rumors or concerns of larger healthcare systems acquiring the hospital. While large health systems in the state are experienced in reopening closed hospitals and in securing management of those who are struggling, the rumors of Sierra View trying to secure a management agreement with a larger system is false.

While the pandemic has presented significant challenges over the past three years and there has been unanticipated expenses from the state, we have always made decisions to maintain a healthy balance sheet. This status sets us apart from hospitals that have faced financial distress.

Recently, we applied for a no-interest loan from the state's Distressed Hospital Loan Program to help mitigate the financial losses incurred during the pandemic. Although we did not secure the loan, it is important to note that our organization is financially sound. This decision has reinforced our dedication to implementing our comprehensive turnaround plan over the next 18 months.

Our primary focus in this plan is to strengthen our workforce. By doing so, we aim to reduce our reliance on contract staffing expenses while ensuring continued access to care for our community. We understand that having a robust and well-staffed healthcare team is crucial to providing quality healthcare services.
