COVID-19 Visitor Guidelines Update

After careful consideration and guidance from the California Department of Public Health and the Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency, SVMC has modified COVID-19 visitation guidelines. Effective January 10, 2023, visitors will be able to visit COVID-19 positive patients and patients suspected of COVID-19.
We are committed to the safety of our patients, visitors, medical staff, and SVMC employees while providing excellent patient care. To uphold our safety standards, visitors of COVID-19 patients and patients suspected of COVID-19 must:
- Wear a mask inside the hospital
- Be screened for fever and respiratory illness symptoms
- Wear a red visitor positive sign badge. Badges are distributed and returned at the Information Desk
- Wear a face shield/goggles, N95 mask, gown, and gloves at all times while in the patient room. Please review the attached COVID-19 Visitor Rules for proper PPE procedures. (Attach New Visitor Rules)
- Stay in the patient’s room
- Follow additional department guidelines as found below and attached (LINK)
Department guidelines for visitors of COVID-19 patients and patients suspected of COVID-19:
ER:
- One (1) visitor per patient per stay, exceptions made on a case-by-case basis by clinical staff
- Children under the age of 13 are not allowed
- Visitor rotation is case dependent
- Visitor restricted to patient room
- Visitor will wait outside the ED if the patient is in a procedure area and will be transferred to an inpatient room. Admitting staff will notify the visitor of the inpatient room.
ICU:
- Two (2) visitors per patient per day
- Children under the age of 13 are not allowed
- Visitor rotation is allowed
- Visitors are restricted to patient room
- If a visitor leaves, the visitor cannot return until the next day
- Visiting hours: 9 AM - 9 PM
Maternal Child Health:
- One (1) visitor person per day and overnight
- Visitor restricted to patient room
- If visitor leaves, the visitor cannot return until the next day (exceptions considered by Charge Nurse)
Medical/Surgical and Telemetry:
- Two (2) visitors per patient per day
- Visitor rotation is allowed
- Visitors are restricted to patient room
- If a visitor leaves, the visitor cannot return until the next day
- Visiting hours: 9 AM - 9 PM
NICU:
- One (1) parent or guardian
- Visitation time will be arranged by RN
Pediatrics:
- Two (2) visitors per day and one (1) overnight stay
- Follow Med/Surg and ICU/Tele guidelines
Surgery:
- Inpatients: Visitors will wait in the patient’s room
- Outpatient PUI or confirmed patients will not be scheduled for procedures
