Second COVID-19 Boosters Now Available at SVMC-Imperial Ambulance Community Vaccination Clinic

Second boosters of the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines are now available at the SVMC-Imperial Ambulance Community Vaccination Clinic located at 385 Pearson Dr., Porterville, CA 93257. Tulare County Health & Human Services Agency (TCHHSA) provided vaccination guidance to Sierra View on April 7, 2022, following recent authorization from the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).

Eligibility for Additional COVID-19 Booster Vaccines

Sierra View continuously aligns with recommendations from the CDC, California Department of Public Health (CDPH) and TCHHSA. Per Tulare County, the current COVID-19 vaccination recommendation is as follows:

• An initial booster vaccine remains strongly recommended for everyone age 12 years and older once eligible.
• A second booster vaccine of Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna is now available for:

• Persons age 50 years and older
• Immunosuppressed persons age 12 years and older
• Persons who received Johnson & Johnson

Community members with questions about their eligibility may speak to their health care providers. “Considerations may include having or living with someone who has a high-risk health condition as well as exposure risk factors such as living in a congregate setting, working in healthcare, or upcoming travel,” TCHHSA states. TCHHSA also reminds that “[v]accine recommendations continue to be updated as new data becomes available. While the vaccine remains very effective at preventing hospitalization and death from COVID-19, booster vaccines help ensure ongoing protection and are a normal part of most vaccine series.”

Where to get the 2^nd booster?

Eligible community members in Porterville and surrounding communities are welcome to receive their second boosters at the SVMC-Imperial Ambulance Community Vaccination Clinic. The vaccination clinic now operates Fridays and Saturdays weekly (9 a.m. – 6 p.m.).
