Q&A: Get to Know the Chaplaincy Services team
News
Every week, the Sierra View Medical Center Chaplaincy Service steam offer a service at the chapel for employees who are seeking spiritual care. This week, they used the service, The Gathering, to talk about what moves them to rise to the ministry they’re called to. Colleen Wilson leads the Chaplaincy Services team and took a moment to go live with the team and engage them in a Q&A session.

I grew up in the military as a navy brat in various places, but mostly in San Diego where we settled permanently when I was 11. I grew up wandering the local canyons, spending days exploring the zoo and Balboa Park, and going to the beach whenever possible. In high school, my Saturdays were often spent in downtown San Diego at the library and wandering through bookstores. I am always reading or listening to several books on various topics and love to learn about things I know nothing about. I graduated from Westmont College, class of '69 with a BA in Sociology and received a M.Div. from Fuller Theological Seminary. I am an ordained Presbyterian minister and have served congregations in Idaho, Washington, the U.S. Army, Nebraska, Alaska, and finally in California. I am the pastor of Foothill Presbyterian Church and, as of 2017, I am also the pastor at Trinity Lutheran Church. My wife Cindi and I have been married 48 years and have 7 children, 5 sons and 2 daughters, and 9 grandchildren as of this writing. I have served on the SVMC Chaplaincy Staff since 2016.

I attended a catholic seminary in Latin America. I have worked extensively with the Missionaries of Charity and completed Psych Technician training at Porterville College. I am part of the Porterville Catholic community. I have served on the SVMC Chaplaincy Staff since 2013.

I have invested 35 years in pastoral ministry in California, serving in the Napa Valley for twenty years and in Tulare County for almost fifteen years. I have a degree in Leadership from Fresno Pacific University and a Masters's Degree in Counseling from Liberty University. My greatest joy is family. I have been married for 36 years and have raised three beautiful daughters. I have four grandchildren and I am enjoying the role of papa these days. In my off time, I am a coffee connoisseur and semi-accomplished landscape photographer. Books, fountain pens, and fancy ink are among my guilty pleasures. I view my work at Sierra View as an amazing privilege and opportunity. My desire is to remind people of God’s love and presence in their lives even in some of the most difficult times.
We thank the Chaplaincy Services team for all they do for the spiritual care of our patients and staff members.
