New Clinical Manager for PACU/Endo and Ambulatory Surgery Departments at Sierra View
Beginning or continuing a nursing career at Sierra View Medical Center can take nursing professionals in many directions. Veronica Gutierrez, BSN, RN, PHN recently became the Clinical Manager of our Post-Acute Care Unit (PACU) and Endoscopy Departments and is now overseeing the Ambulatory Surgery Department (ASD). Veronica began her career at Sierra View as an LVN in 2003 and became a registered nurse in 2009. In the past, she has worked as a charge nurse with the Endoscopy and ASD teams. This next career opportunity in leadership is one that Veronica is happy to undertake.
Veronica’s nurturing personality and desire to help others inspired her to begin a career in health care soon after graduating high school. “I’ve always been the person someone comes to for help,” she says. If Veronica is not helping a patient navigate a procedure, she makes herself available as a resource to her team. “Being able to help my fellow employees who share the same ethical values as I do” is rewarding to Veronica.
As a leader, Veronica will no doubt count on her departments’ sense of collaboration. Her areas of responsibility are part of the greater Surgical Services Department at Sierra View. “We come together and work as a team to provide endoscopic procedures for outpatients and inpatients,” she says. “We collaborate with other departments, doctor offices and facilities to give our patients optimal care.”
Endoscopy refers to medical diagnostic procedures that allow doctors to take a look inside a patient’s body. Using an endoscope with a small camera attached doctors can look inside organs to provide patients with a variety of diagnostic services and some surgical procedures.
Director for Surgical Services, Christen Rosa, will continue to work closely with Veronica as a new leader within her department. “Veronica is a support to our teams,” she says. “As a long-time employee of the hospital, she knows all of the areas very, very well. I am convinced she will always prioritize the best interest of our patients and teams.”
