13-year-old Receives COVID-19 Vaccine and Parenting Network Shares Information

13-year-old Reynaldo Vargas and his mother, Maria Elena Torres, recently stopped in at the SVMC-Imperial Ambulance Community Vaccination clinic to help Reynaldo prepare for back to school in the safest way possible – by completing his COVID-19 vaccination! Weeks ago, he received the first dose of the vaccine at Porterville Veterans Memorial Building. “The vaccine is important not only for ourselves but to help care for our very young that can’t be vaccinated yet,” says Maria Elena. She feels reassured that Reynaldo will be more protected against COVID-19 when he starts eighth grade at Pioneer Middle School this fall and that he will help even those in the community who are not yet vaccinated.

There to accompany family members following vaccinations were Parenting Network Case Managers, Maria Baez and Michelle Mendoza. Throughout the morning, they distributed informational materials, sanitizing wipes, and hand sanitizers to community members. Parenting Network is a 501©3 nonprofit organization that provides peer support services, counseling, and information and referral services for Central Valley families in areas including Porterville, Visalia, and Dinuba to name a few.
