SVMC Welcomes Six Registered Nurses Sent by the State of California
Hospitals all over are experiencing staffing issues. To help improve our situation, SVMC Chief Nursing Officer, Dr. Jeffery Hudson-Covolo, filed a request for additional staffing with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH). These nurses are contracted with the State of California through the Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) and join us from all over the country in our greatest time of need.
"These additional nurses will allow us to continue to deliver high-quality care and give some relief to some of our nurses who have been working a lot of overtime to make sure that our patients have nurses," says Dr. Hudson-Covolo. This effort is just one way in which SVMC leadership is doing everything they can to help keep SVMC staffed and operating.
Incoming registered nurses join us from several states and will be working in our Emergency Room, ICU, Medical-Surgical departments:
- Tammie Holmes from Hartselle, Alabama (ICU)
- David Lew from Oak Ridge Tennessee (ICU)
- Som Baccam from Des Moines, Iowa (Med/Surg)
- Maribeth Maglasang from Houston, Texas (ER)
- Charvi Mirasol from Houston, Texas (ER)
- Jennifer Nattrass from California RN (ICU)
SVMC thanks these nurses for choosing to come to SVMC! We are grateful for the much-needed help.
