The Cancer Treatment Center's spacious infusion suite has 11 individual chemotherapy stations; each equipped with guest seating, fully-reclining patient chairs, adjustable televisions with cable access, windows, and privacy curtains. There is also a station customized for patients who need to lie down while receiving chemotherapy. The infusion suite is equipped with a dedicated medication room, allowing for quicker access to medications and streamlined treatment services for our patients.
There are seven private examination rooms within the Cancer Treatment Center. All rooms are comfortable and have seating room for friends and/or family. Having numerous rooms allows for quick patient set up and improved flow decreases wait times.
The Roger S. Good Cancer Treatment Center’s CT scanner allows for precise mapping of the shape, size, and location of the cancer. These scans are then sent to a planning computer where physicians can review a high-resolution, three-dimensional image of the tumor. From these pictures, doctors can better optimize the treatment options.
The Roger S. Cancer Treatment Center features an Elekta Infinity Linear Accelerator. The Linear accelerator is equipped with state-of-the-art technology which utilizes the most innovative beam-shaping solution for cancer treatments. The Elekta Infinity boasts an intelligent beam shaping multi-leaf collimation system which combines leaf speeds that are twice as fast as conventional devices. The end result of such sophisticated technology allows for faster, more accurate, and more versatile radiation treatment delivery.
Elekta Infinity integrates the Elekta Synergy image-guided workflow in a comprehensive treatment system that includes the Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT). VMAT combines superior dose conformance and treatment speed, enabling clinicians to “shrink wrap” the dose around the tumor. This feature is very important for the patients because they can receive their radiation treatments with speed and confidence.
The Elekta Infinity also has superior capabilities in terms of imaging, such as Cone Beam CT (CBCT). The therapists can now image before initiating a radiation treatment and visualize the exact location of the tumor volume in three dimensions and aim with more precision. This capability is due to the fact that there is a kilovoltage x-ray tube within the machine, thereby producing better quality images. The advantage is that this allows the radiation oncologist to escalate the doses and shrink the margins around the tumor with more confidence, therefore decreasing doses to normal tissues.
We are proud to offer advanced IMRT treatments plans, VMAT, conventional 3D, electron treatments for skin cancers, and soon we will be able to offer our community Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS) as well as Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT). The friendly radiation staff team has many years of experience and continues to advance in training and treatment modalities. We invite the community to come and tour our facility and allow us to care for your cancer needs. Se Habla Espanol.
